Activities abound as Beavers find their inner fun at PGL!

Categories:

From Friday 24 to Sunday 26 January, 7 of our older Beavers went for a weekend of fun, friendship and adventure at PGL in Hindhead. This event was the brainchild of Michelle Davies, one of Epsom and Ewell’s District Beaver Leaders (DBLs). 4 colonies sent Beavers, with 34 youngsters and lots of adults.
The Beavers came to us for the trip down to site, bright and full of energy. They left exhausted. Lots of energy, not a lot of sleep and far too much fun!

In between these journeys, activities included abseiling, climbing, low ropes and orienteering. The favourite two activities, as mentioned by the Beavers, were the aeroball (basketball on a trampoline, for the uninitiated) and survivor (bivouacs, flint and striker, and… sharpening sticks with knives). Fully risk assessed, of course!

Food is always the way to a Beaver Scout’s heart, and they certainly weren’t disappointed! Evening activities also fit the bill, with a campfire (although not quite as big as a Scout would have it) and a globe-trotting exercise on Saturday night.

An event that the Beavers loved, and we hope to repeat in future years.
